She Used To Call Me Her Little Doll

A True Story of A Little Princess and Her Living Doll

Once upon a time there lived a little girl
She was a special little girl, who lived in her own little world

She had cousins galore and lots of friends;
There was something she wanted, something more

Being a special little princess her parents heard her call,
They came home one day with her own living doll

A sister, a friend, a confident just for her,
Two peas in a pod, no more shall she want

She called her a living doll, someone to dress up and play
A real living doll, she could play and play all day

Johnny Jump-Ups and wigs
Holly Hobbit cakes, matching Christmas robes, bunny rabbits and guinea pigs
She would slide her doll down the slide into the fence,
But these things happen when your slide gets wet

Growing up she always took her living doll with her
Playing with cousins, traveling cross country with the parents, snowball fights and pajama nights
Theirs was a bond that was pure

As the little girl got older the little doll wasn’t always so easy to play with
Sometimes she wouldn’t sit still for dress up and would even go off on her own
The little girl began to worry that the everlasting bond was just a myth

Then a miracle happened, the little girl had a son
A little boy, a beautiful bouncing bundle of joy

Her living doll couldn’t wait,
She couldn’t wait to play with, sing to, and spoil the boy
The connection was still there, it wasn’t too late

For years they were together, thick and thin, fast and slow
More memories than can ever be remembered
Two parts of one half, sometimes not always agreeing
But always ready to be together and laugh

Time moves fast, you blink and it’s gone, too fast
Just ask the doll, some memories just don’t last

The little doll eventually grew up and had her own little princess
“Auntie” was born, a special person, another special bond as you can guess
Auntie showered the princess with so much love and affection
It was a special bond, a bond that will never be replaced

Then one day this Auntie got sick,
After loving the princess and her special little brother for a short time, her body decides it can’t go on
Auntie had to move on, the pain she knew would be hard, hurtful and thick

The little living doll felt like a hole had been cut from her heart, a piece removed from her
The tornado was missing her rock
All at once her life was wrong, upside down, torn apart

Then a feeling came across
Nothing big, just a calmness
She knew that although the tears were falling and the hurt was very real
It wasn’t a total loss

The original little princess, the sister, the friend, the confidant, the Auntie was here
She will be here to help guide the new princess, the little brother and her special little living doll
She’s in the wind, she’s in the memories, she’s in the laughter of those she left behind
She’s everywhere….

Today I bury a piece of me, but I am not losing her, only sending her ahead to wait, just wait for me. We will be together again, dear sister.

Your little living doll…
