That was the ENT's diagnosis...after getting that "lifetime movie mom" look, he told me my son wasn't sick...OMG !!! This is NOT munchauser by proxy syndrome!! I swear I was torn between punching him in the face and crying...okay, so after I calmed down we talked..he examined his nose, ears, tonsils, felt his adenoids and told me he was fine..he looked at the CT and said there was NO WAY that a sinus infection could be diagnosed from it, it was unreadable..so once again I was like..aaaahhhhhhhh !!! WTH, now I have two completely different opinions on what's going on..who to believe..Here's his points..
He has no visible infection in his head (no pus showing anywhere)
The CT was unreadable
He is showing no infection signs anywhere else (he quizzed me about other signs or symptoms..like, rashes, skin problems, UTI's, and so on..answered no to all)
He he looks like a typical 17 month old boy...they are called "snotty little boys" for a reason
He told me "this is his opinion and I can take it as much as I want considering I have been bombarded with so many different opinions"..he has a weak immune system..NOT an immune system problem, just a weak one..if he had a serious immune system issue we would have seen other signs before now..he would have been hospitalized, failed to thrive or gain weight (definitely not a problem there)..he thinks that the reason the antibiotics aren't working is because there is no BACTERIAL infection..it's viral...basically, (how he explained it to me) is everyone walks around at every given time with 4 or 5 different infections on them..most of us don't even feel them or notice bcuz our immune system works, Austin's doesn't work that well, so he will catch the little things that we dont' even feel..if we get the sniffles, it's gone in a day or two..for Austin it could take a week..We will know for sure when the blood work comes back, but he feels that it won't tell us anything either..It's not gonna tell us if he has weak system, just if he has a default system...so he also told me to get that boy OFF ALL THOSE MEDS !!!!! He's being over-medicated !!! Which we both had a feeling was happening..So this is our game plan..
We are stopping all meds except the inhalers (he agrees that's not his speciality and he doesn't want to speculate on what they are being specifically used for)
We are gonna kinda "flush" his system...lots of water, and no meds
I am gonna make sure he gets his vitamins in the morning and even add some vitamin C to his diet (whether orange juice or pill or what)
We return to the allergist on the 20th to review the allergy test (which as of now we cant' do) and the blood work, so we will take our next step from there..
I am now wondering if these fits and short tempers are coming from over medication and not sickness..I know that some is the typical almost 2 year old temper tantrums, but what if he feels like crap bcuz he's over medicated? You know that you feel like crap if you accidentally take too many meds at one time..they are pumping 6 different drugs into this boy DAILY (not including the two we ALREADY stopped), so what if he just feels like crap or they mess with his personality....
I don't know, I don't have a DEFINITE answer, which is what I was hoping for today..Shane wants to side with the ENT, bcuz he is a specialist..he feels that this guy has ALOT more creditenials than an allergist (actually he said an allergist is no different than a witch doctor..lol)..I feel happy that he's not sick, but is that true? One doc did say he an infection, who do you believe?
I actually agree with the Allergist. We were at one point doing the same with too much medicine. We actually were dealing with the nurse practitioner, and after removing all the Rx, you will see a different child. ENT's are kind of "iffy" in certain areas, but that is my opinion. I hope monkey is doing million times better in a couple weeks..<3
